A NATIONAL DAILY: FEW WERE KILLED

Unusual gory silence across the bay
Violent gales predict a storm
Polling pamphlets caught in fight
Unrest, murmur, sideways glance.
You and I go about our usual ways
Breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner.
Ringing phones disturb sound sleep
“Mob… killing… ransacking…
Torching houses… rape…
Blood…hellppp…"
Hello… hello!!!
Silence. Line dead.
Silenced. Dead. Murdered.
Faceless mob devoid of mercy
Helpless they, cease to exist.
Kashmir, Kashmir? We ask in frenzy
No, Bengal it is. Massacred.
Lamenting, reasoning why? Why?
We know why, you know why.
